Pigment spots

Pigment spots can occur in the thirties, they are a degeneration of melanin. It is hyperpigmentation of the skin in the form of spots.


These spots can be found on the face, neck, décolleté, hands, arms, shoulders and back.


There are different pigment spots:

- Sun spots: They are due to the aging of the skin. As we are exposed to the sun, darker or darker spots can appear with age. Melanin is in overproduction and ends up making spots.


- Melasma or pregnancy mask: During pregnancy, hyperpigmentation of the skin can occur on the forehead, chin, cheeks, and mustache. Melasma is a pigmentation disorder due to hormonal imbalance. Melasma can also appear or worsen with the sun and certain medications.

- Freckles: Freckles are genetic: often associated with fair and sensitive skin. They are not treatable because they always come back after a while after treatment.

- Pigmented scars: They are often caused by acne. They are recognizable because they are red or pinkish. It is a bad scarring which can be reinforced with the sun.

How to erase pigment spots without surgery?

Photorejuvenation (IPL): Intense pulsed light will burn off excess melanin to create a peeling effect on darker areas and make spots disappear.

Microneedling with lightening growth factors: Micro-lesions on the treated areas will create cell renewal and allow the lightening growth factors to penetrate to treat the spots.
